KERMIT — The body of a man, apparently a murder victim, was located Sunday by Mingo County Sheriff’s deputies, according to multiple reports.
Law enforcement was not identifying the victim pending notification of next-of-kin. Speculation in Williamson is that the person is a high-ranking coal official. “Everybody here knows who it was, whether the police want to say or not,” said one courthouse official.
The Corridor Chronicle will respect the police request to allow notification of next-of-kin first, although the name is known to this newspaper.
The cemetery is known as the Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The alleged victim’s late wife is said to be buried in that graveyard.
State Police in Mingo as well as the Sheriff’s Department have asked media to ask residents to advise them of any unusual events seen by anyone at the cemetery over the weekend.
