The family of Dawson Isom, now 20, wishes to advise the public that they do not support. will not attend, and ask Dawson’s friends and supporters not to attend any “protests” allegedly on Dawson’s behalf at the new Pikeville Golden Corral.
While the family appreciates any show of support for Dawson, who was beaten into a permanent coma May 30, 2015 in Williamson, they do not believe a protest at the restaurant is appropriate.
David Isom, Dawson’s father and legal guardian, said, “We are urging people to boycott the Golden Corral because the owner of that location is known as the man who attacked my son in broad daylight on a Saturday morning. We ask that no friend of Dawson ever patronize that restaurant.”
On the other hand, David Isom said, “we believe a physical protest at the restaurant site would be counterproductive. Throughout this whole process, we have taken the high road and we intend to continue to represent Dawson as he would want — strong and peacefully.”
The family said they are notifying the news media of their position in hope that it will be clear that they have nothing to do with organizing, participating in or approving any protest.
