Public invited to Guard event

CHARLESTON – The West Virginia National Guard is inviting the public to a screening of a new video about West Virginians in the Vietnam conflict.
Light refreshments will be served for Vietnam veterans and their families attending the pre-screening beginning at 1 p.m., at the University of Charleston, Saturday, September 9.
At 1:50 p.m., Vietnam vets and their families will begin seating in the UC auditorium. Those wishing to speak are asked to advise LTC John “Todd” Harrell of the public affairs office. His cellular number is 304-437-2724.
Remarks from veterans will begin at 2 p.m. In addition, PBS spokeswoman Suzanne Higgins and Dave Simmons, president of the West Virginia chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America, will speak.
The screening of “Vietnam: West Virginians Remember” and trailers of Ken Burns’ “Vietnam” documentary will follow.
