Charleston – Senior Status Judge Thomas C. Evans III will return to active service next week in the Thirteenth Circuit, which is Kanawha County.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Margaret Workman issued the order returning Evans to active service. Evans will be filling in for recently-retired Kanawha Judge James Stucky. Originally, Senior Status Judge David Pancake presided over Stucky’s docket but, at his request, that assignment ends today, May 11.
Pancake’s appointment is termed “temporary” since a replacement for Stucky will be chosen by Governor Jim Justice. He will begin presiding on Stucky’s cases on Monday, May 14.
Workman’s order also authorizes Evans to enter orders that “would conclude matters considered or herd by him during this assignment.”
Stucky’s resignation was presented because of health reasons.
