CHARLESTON — The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission will receive applications immediately for the pending vacancy on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. The person appointed would complete the portion of Justice Menis Ketchum’s term from the date of appointment to certification of a successor.
The deadline for applications and for submittal of letters of recommendation is August 14. Interviews will be held on August 23 and 24 (if necessary).
Applications and letters of recommendation will not be considered if received after the deadlines. Both must be submitted to: Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission, c/o Brian Abraham, General Counsel, Office of the Governor, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia 25305.
You may access the application HERE.
Ketchum resigned, effective last week, after agreeing to an information filing with Southern District U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart. Although Ketchum and other judges elected prior to 2016 ran as members of political parties, the contests beginning in 2016 are non-partisan.
