CORRIDOR CHRONICLE
Mandt resigns
by Ron Gregory
Huntington — According to House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, Cabell County Delegate John Mandt Jr. submitted his resignation effective at 11:59 p.m., tonight.
The controversial Mandt, a Republican, had been the subject of media reports concerning alleged comments he made on social media.
In his resignation letter, Mandt cited the death of his mother earlier this year and having to care for his father as reasons he resigned to spend more time with the family.
Mandt was one of these delegates representing the 16th District. He won renomination in June. Ballots are printed for the November 3 election and it is too late for Mandt’s name to be removed.
Governor Jim Justice will appoint someone to complete Mandt’s term, which ends in December.
