Shooting arrest made

Huntington – At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Huntington Police Department responded to reports of a shooting victim at a residence in the 700 block of Jackson Avenue, according to Chief Ray Cornwell.
Upon arrival, officers found a minor who had suffered a gunshot wound. Patrol officers secured the scene to allow Cabell County EMS personnel to treat and transport the victim to a local hospital.
HPD detectives and forensics investigators were called in to determine the facts surrounding the incident and interview all parties present. Upon conclusion of the investigation, it was determined the shooting was unintentional.
Roger M. Stanley II, 34, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in injury and malicious or unlawful assault.
The victim, whose name is not being released due to their status as a juvenile, underwent surgery and was last reported to be in stable condition.
